Eevee, our newest addition to the family and the youngest one here. When I started breeding the plan was always to keep a pup from Abby. After some chats and thinking we decided that we wanted to keep a pup from Abby’s 2nd litter and although we did have some doubts about maybe keeping a puppy from Abby’s 1st litter we stood by our plan and waited for the 2nd litter. A tricolor bitch was the wish but if that wish would come through was still not sure. I’ve learned a lot before, during and after Abby’s first litter so I knew a bit more what I was looking for in a puppy that I wanted to keep after that and eventually I fell in love with Ledger, a tricolor stud from America with a beautiful appearance and great character. The summer of 2010 came and 9 exciting weeks followed. Unfortunately it didn’t all go as planned at the end and Abby had to have a c-section. But 6 beautiful healthy pups came into this world (a seventh pup, also a tricolor bitch, sadly didn’t make it which was though but something we knew could happen).
From the first moment Eevee caught my eye. She had a beautiful white collar, had a real nice dark color and was a tricolor bitch, our wish! Although we of course did look at all the pups at first the choice was made very quickly... Eevee was staying! Actually the dogs themselves made that decision. The bond between them is the most important thing and from the moment Eevee could see and walk that click was there between her mommy and her an ‘auntie’ Ash and her. Especially Ashley who can be very picky had such a beautiful bond with Eevee, she just lighted up whenever Eevee was out of the puppypen to play. And Eevee felt at home right away as well! With a couple of weeks the decision was made that she would stay her. And we haven’t had a regret about that ever since!
Eevee is a lady with a feisty character. She knows what she wants and how to get it! At 3wks old, young as she was, she could already sometimes win from Ashley. And young as she was then she also decided that the puppypen was to small for her, here place was outside the puppypen with the older dogs instead of the little ones. Yeah this miss is a naughty girl but that’s also what we love about her. Growling and barking was something she also learned at a young age and she soon found out how to use these two things to her advantage.
We also quickly found out how much Eevee loves to learn new things. She observed Ash and Abby from very young on a lot and then copied stuff they do, or went out on an adventure to discover new things herself. Eevee isn’t easily impressed, she thinks almost everything is interesting and fun.
And as feisty as she is, she’s also a cuddle. Although she can be a bit distance at first as as soon as you earn her trust she's you're best friend. When you pick her up she goes into kissing-mode and she can also cuddle like one of the best. And a belly tickle, oh she just loves that... Ah well she is a child of Abby and Ledger and those two like their cuddles as well so it was expected that children of them would inhered that same trait.
Eevee is a great student as well with already 3 diploma's in her pocket. She started out in the puppyclass where she got 96 out of 100 points on her exam and recently she got 92 out of 100 point during her basic obedience II exam. In the showring she's also doing quite well so far with a 'Very Promising', Very Good' and 'Best Baby' kwalification in her name.
Unfortunately due to her mothers epilepsy we decided not to breed with Eevee in the future. Although the risk of Eevee herself and her offspring getting sick are very little I can’t fully support breeding with her so that’s why I decided to not breed with her at all. But no matter what we still love and enjoy having her with us every minute of the day and hope to have many adventures with her in the future! We also hope enter a sport with Eevee soon so who knows what will happen with all of that. I'm very curious to see what the future will bring for us but I'm sure it will be a lot of fun with this great girl...
