Week 1
It’s already a week since the pups we’re born, wow time flies...
Mom and kids are doing fine. The pups are very relaxed and satisfied, even more relaxed and quieter than our first litter (of 4)! Really amazing... They are so easy, almost don’t make a sound and sleep most of the day. Just like they supposed too! They had a bit of a rough start but everything turned out to be fine as the week went forward...
After the c-section Abby immediately jumped into that mother role that she so loves! Only the eating... If it was the anesthetic, the medication or something else we don’t know but Abby just didn’t want to eat. Eventually she began eating bread with meat and by the end of the week she also ate her normal food again so that’s great news. Abby has never been a good eater so we can’t expect miracles of her, but she’s going in the right direction thankfully.
Unfortunately she doesn’t have enough milk for her litter. The pups we’re losing weight so eventually we started to feed them ourselves twice a day to help Abby a bit. That going fine now and although the pups haven’t doubled their birth-weights yet they are (also) heading in the right direction!
After being in doubt for a long time I finally decided last Tuesday what the pedigree-names of this litter would be. In Holland the pedigree-names need to be in within 10 days after birth so it was hard to find something original and nice that suites the pups as well. As some of you may know I love childish stuff. Our previous litter had a Pokemon theme so there was no doubt in my mind that this litter would have a animated theme as well.
Different animated series came to mind but one just kept coming up... Pokemon! Like I said our first litter had that theme as well and the reactions on that were very nice. Also those names are special but with a story behind them, just what I am looking for.
Last Friday I got a letter of the Raad van Beheer saying that the names are approved!
So that left us with the difficult job of choosing which pup would get what name... Some pups were easy, we knew within seconds who they should be. But others... Eventually we made our decision last night so I’m very proud to present:
Female 1 - Curious Eevee Special Princess

Our tricolor bitch, now Eevee... We got to know Eevee last week as a very laidback girl but also with a mind of her own. She’s a bit further then other littermates when it comes to development so we think she maybe a litter older then them. Eevee can be spotted by her beautiful full white coat, her nice tan on her face and her size (as she and her brother are the biggest ones in the litter).
Eevee’s name comes from the Pokemon Eevee. Eevee is a Pokemon who’s appearance are based on a cat, dog and fox. She has e beautiful full coat (the first resemblance to our Eevee) and a big tail with a lighter tip at the end (another resemblance). Eevee is a Pokemon that can adjust well and is a baby-Pokemon. Because of the similarities we though this name would suite our little girl perfectly! And well the curious... I think that one will speak for it’s own, hihi!
Eevee is pronounced as ‘Ee - vee’ and you can find a picture of her down here...

Female 2 - Ambitious Phione Special Princess

Our little ‘white miracle’, now Phione... We got a lot of questions about her last week! Things like ‘what color is she?!’. Well and to be honest... We don’t know that either! Phione came into this world yellowy and white. No blue spot was found on her! And the darker spots on her back aren’t black either but more a dark grey color. Last week we talked to several people about her. Some say she’s a color head, others say the color will come eventually... It’s most likely she’s a color head, but Ledger doesn’t have the white-factor so because of that it’s impossible! Besides everything that’s not grey/black is white, there’s not a blue spot on her body. She actually looks double-merle but I’m sure you all agree with me that Ledger isn’t a blue merle so that’s impossible too. But what color is she then? Well we don’t know, we have no clue. The only thing we do know is that she’s a very special and beautiful girl. The fact if she’s blue-merle or not is also something we’re not sure about. On one of her cheeks we see a little tan but on the other cheek almost no tan can be found, and under her but is also no tan. So is she a bi-blue then? Well that’s impossible too if she has tan on her cheek. Another question we can’t answer at the moment...
But she is a cute little girl! Phione is just like her sister a quiet one, easily satisfied, But she’s also a climber as some of you may have already noticed on the cam.
Pokemon Phione is a water-Pokemon that lives in the ocean. She is know to be legendary and well with the looks of this girl we though that was a great resemblance. People also say seeing a Phione brings luck. Well if that’s the case... Because of the climbing skills of our little Phione and her special appearance we though ambitious would suite her also just fine...
Phione is pronounced as ‘Fee - own - ay’ and a picture of her can be found below here..

Male 1 - Lightning Raichu Special Princess

Our though little Raichu... He’s the first one in this litter to have gotten a name. I had the list in front of me and saw him and I just knew... He’s Raichu! Raichu is the biggest one out of this litter (although he still is smaller then all the pups from our previous litter at this age) so that of course makes him tougher looking then the rest already. But besides that, his head... Well I just don’t know how to call it any different besides though!
Raichu also knows exactly what he wants. He has a mind of his own and when he doesn’t get what he wants he’ll scream. Like I said this is a very quiet litter so he doesn’t screams often but he sure can, hihi... Raichu’s tan is a bit darker then the other pups so it looks like he has less than because of that.
The Pokemon Raichu is the adult form of Pikachu (who we all know I think don’t we?). He has a tail in the form of lightning and he looks a bit chubby (just like our little guy). Raichu’s name comes from the Japanese word ‘Rai’ that means lightning and the sound that a mice makes ‘chuu’. The name also comes from the Japanese mythology creature Raiju that’s a lightning creature.
Raichu is pronounced as ‘Rye - chew’ and a picture of him can be found down here...

Male 2 - Playful Phanpy Special Princess

Our Phanpy, playful Phanpy... He’s a bit of the underdog of the bunch. He’s very relaxed and easily pleased. But when he knows it’s dinnertime... Well then he comes to life, hihi!
Phanpy’s character is a bit of a mystery for me at the moment. Like I said he’s very relaxed, only during feeding time he comes to life. But there is one thing I know for sure. And that’s that he is very sweet, a real teddy bear!
Phanpy is an elephant Pokemon. Our Phanpy certainly isn’t an elephant but there do is a similarity. His white stripe! Phanpy has a white stripe from his neck all the way to his nose, just like the trunk of an elephant. Besides that Pokemon Phanpy likes to play and bumps into people when he likes them. Well I personly think that suites our little Phanpy also just fine...
Phanpy is pronounced as ‘Fan - pee’, a picture of hem can be found down here...

Male 3 - Prince Manaphy Special Princess

Our little prince Manapy... He is one of the smallest pups we have in this litter. Manaphy is very sweet but he doesn’t seem to be the brightest one of the bunch, hihi... He usually takes the longest to find a nipple and when mommy enters of leaves the welpingbox he sometimes doesn’t even notices. Oh well with there eyes and ears closed at the moment I find it a miracle that all the other pups do notice all that. Manaphy grew a lot this week, together with his white sister he changed the most over the week. He has a special appearance that in my eyes make him a little bit royal...
The Pokemon Manaphy is also know as the ‘prince of the sea’. Well and considering that our Manaphy has a marking on his head that my mom thinks looks a bit like a crown... Prince Manaphy! He also is, just like his little sister Phione, considered to be legendary. Manapy is a water-Pokemon that in comparison to Phione is a bit lighter and smaller then her, well and that’s also the case with our Manaphy and Phione. He is a playful Pokemon and his name was based on ‘manatee’ in combination with the word ‘fairy’...
Manapy is pronounced as ‘Man - ah - fee’ and a picture of him can be found below here...

Male 4 - Cute Buneary Special Princess

Cute little Buneary, also know as ‘dwergje’ (aka midget) here in our home... He was the smallest pup at birth and he still is. Buneary is so cute, I don’t know what it is... Maybe it is his mature appearance although he is so small, but he has stolen all of our hearts! Buneary is a bold little guy tha reminds me a lot of Piplup (Dylano), a pup from our first litter. I also see a bit of his father in him although he has white in his face (and his dad doesn’t). Just that same appearance, that same attitude, hihi...
Buneary is a rabbit-Pokemon with large ears. Well that something our little guy doesn’t have... Hahaha! When Buneary is cold he folds up his ears and falls asleep. Well our little Buneary loves to sleep all rolled up so that’s sort of an resemblance. But the real reason why we think our Buneary is really an Buneary... Just because we think he’s so cute, and Buneary is too. So that’s why he is our little Cute Buneary...
Buneary is pronounced as ‘Buhn - eer - ee’ and below you can find a picture of him...

Well that’s it for this week, our puppy diary has come to an end. Because the pups are so young there are no clips this time. There do is a clip of them on my Youtube page so for anyone who would like to see that... And don’t forget the webcam! The link to that page can be found at the bottom of this page. The puppy cam is mostly on during the evening but I sometimes turn it on in the morning/afternoon as well. Oh and of course the photo album on the first page of the puppy dairy’s. Whenever I have nice shots of the pups I’ll place them in there. So there are shots in there that haven’t made it into the diary but are very cute. So check that out as well!
Alright like I said that’s it for this week. So...
See you next week!
